Dolly Reunited With Her 9 to 5 Co-Stars To Make A Statement

Over 40 years later, Dolly Parton reunited with her 9 to 5 co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin to speak at the 2017 Emmy Awards. Their appearance stirred the media a bit the next day because of what they said:

“Back in 1980, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot… And in 2017, we STILL refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying hypocritical bigot!” Actually, it was Fonda and Tomlin who said those lines on stage, with Parton remaining visibly silent throughout the exchange. Since Donald Trump has become the president, many awards shows have taken on political tones to stand up against his leadership.
