How Dolly Was Inspired To Forge Her Career

Knowing that she had been writing and making music since a young age and made a full-blown career out of it, it’s a wonder that Miss Dolly never seems to slow down. You would think that someone at her age would get tired and want to quit the business, but someone like Dolly Parton has been driven by ambition since she was eight or nine.

Parton told The Guardian in 2014, “I didn’t hear a voice, but it was a knowing that came to me, and it said, ‘Run. Run until I tell you to stop.’ And that’s what it’s been, I’ve kept keeping on. And I never let a person, or a thing, nor a sickness, nor a heartache, nor anything keep me from keeping on.”
