Later in 2016, Dolly sat down with CNN’s Brook Baldwin to promote her tour, “Pure and Simple.” At the time, the 2016 Presidential Campaign was flaring up. When asked for her opinion on the political climate, she said what a lot of Americans were probably thinking:

“It’s the greatest show on television right now. I don’t know where they’re going to land but I think they’re both nuts,” Dolly said before adding, “Let’s talk about what we really need — taking care of us. I think people just want to have a feeling of security. It’s just like political terrorism right now, they got us all scared to death about everything.”
