Amusement Park Accidents That Will Give You Nightmares
Before There Were Height Requirements
Everyone has the memory of walking up to the sign that says you must be this tall to ride this ride. You walk up and stand with your back turned, and your mom levels her finger to the height of the chart and tells you, “Yay! You’re tall enough!” Before May of 1984 there were no height requirements at Cedar Point. That is until a five-year-old boy fell from the front seat of the train during the ride’s 30-foot drop. He slipped out of the seat because he was too short for the lap bar to be effective. The boy lived, suffering a fractured skull. The 48-inch height restriction was put in place after the incident.
