In the 2002 film Spider-Man, Peter Parker was originally supposed to make his own mechanical web shooters. Later, the filmmakers decided to have the radioactive spider give him biological web spinning powers.

In the original trailer, you can see the mechanical web shooters around Peter’s wrists. They were digitally removed in the final cut of the film.
