Bence was born in December 2015. He was 21 inches tall and weighed an average 11.9 pounds. He also had a head of stark white hair, and both doctors and his parents were curious as to why.
Bence was delivered on time and his birth was entirely normal. His shocking head of hair earned him the nickname ‘Prince Charming’ throughout the hospital and doctors were prompted to investigate his hair pigment further.
The doctors performed routine compulsory tests and also took blood samples to try and find the source of Bence’s hair hue. But, the results showed that Bence was entirely healthy and normal.
Baby Bence’s doctor, Dr. Zoltan Kummer, thought that maybe his ivory hair was due to albinism. Albinism is “a congenital disorder characterized by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin.”
Dr. Kummer also concluded that it could be due to a lack of melanin pigment, but there were no other signs of albinism present.
Further tests are being carried out, but in the meantime, Bence continues to be happy and healthy. Dr. Kummer believes his hair will get darker as he gets older.
And it turns out Bence isn’t alone in this unique hair color!
