Adults who have at least one diet drink a day are three times more likely to have a stroke, suffer from dementia, or heart disease.
The news comes after scientists recently performed a study, testing the long term effects of ‘diet’ drinks.
Scientists are no longer regarding diet drinks as healthy, they’re urging the public to stick to water or milk if they’re looking for a healthy alternative to soda.
The study focused on 4,400 adults.
It suggested that diet drinks are more likely to cause strokes and dementia than those full sugar drinks.
There was no link between sugary beverages and either of the illnesses.
The study was conducted by a team of scientists from Boston University.
