As children, the idea of true love is presented to us in a fairy take. Usually when the Prince and Princess were married and lived ‘happily ever after’.
I grew up hoping that my Prince would come. A Prince who was perfect in every way.
However, the world has taught me that the best kinds of relationships happen when people come together and love each other despite their imperfections.
Love is finding someone who is perfectly imperfect. It’s sweeter than anything Disney could offer.
It’s easy to believe in soulmates, especially when you look at the couples in love.
‘My grandpa suddenly died. Ever since the funeral, grandma has had their wedding clothes on display in their home.’
‘This man comes in everyday to have a coffee and a chat with his wife.’
‘My grandma broke her wrist, so grandpa’s been helping her with her hair.’
He would sing to his wife every night at the hospital. He even sang to her in her final moments.
Now that’s true love.
